The most difficult job in South African football at the moment is being a Mamelodi Sundowns development player.
At the moment the big spenders are doing what they do best and that is ignoring their development structures and buying every good player that may pose a possible threat to them if he is playing in the different coloured jersey.
With all due respect to the 15 other clubs in the PSL, but it’s as if they have become more like ‘feeder’ clubs for the Brazilians, supplying them with an array of stars which the cash-heavy Brazilians are all too happy to fork out.
The people I feel most sorry for are the eager young players who are looking forward to making their debut for Sundowns. It must be like a nail through their hearts every time a player is bought to fill a position a youngster is groomed to occupy!
But maybe this is the way you achieve total dominance...
