A lot has been said as to why Orlando Pirates need to fire Roger de Sa. His failure to win any silverware after reaching three finals has been mentioned as one of the reasons why he must go.
In another world, reaching three finals and one of them being a CAF Champions League, would have been taken as a good achievement, but in De Sa’s case, that’s taken as a failure.
But doesn’t he need a second chance to see if whether he can go a bit further the next season and end the silverware drought at Pirates? Frankly, I think the Pirates management did the right thing by keeping him for another season. It is then up to De Sa to show all and sundry that he is capable of winning silverware for Pirates or not.
Let the Pirates management and supporters give him all the support he needs to achieve that and if he fails, then they can fire. But now is not the time to do that because the season is not over yet. Do you agree?
