When Golden Arrows caretaker coach, Shaun Bartlett, said, “Arrows don’t deserve to lose their matches. We’ve just been unfortunate not to score goals,” everything in me as an Arrows supporter wanted to concur with that statement, but as a loyalist and a savvy expert of football in my own right, I couldn’t just surrender myself to the passion I feel for this team.
The reason why Arrows find themselves heading to relegation with all but just a mathematical probability left is because our team has not been scoring goals. See, if you score goals, you win matches, and matches equal points!
So it doesn’t matter how well you play, you still need to score goals to rack up the points. As a loyal supporter of Abafana Bes’Thende I fully agree with Bartlett, but as a principled football fan all I can say is what happened to our team is the harsh reality of football.
It really is about score or die ...
