Things are becoming tougher and tougher for Golden Arrows, who suffered a 1-0 loss at the hands of Wits on the weekend.
Abafana Bes’thende are sitting in 16th place on the league table and the possibility of relegation is becoming more real. It’s scary. There are eight games remaining to the season – it’s do or die – and the loss to the Clever Boys has not helped matters. It was an improved performance from our boys, but in football you have to pin the opposition back and score goals.
We lost concentration at a crucial time in the game – just before half-time, and we were made to pay for it because we could not get back into the game. That makes the next game, against Kaizer Chiefs on Wednesday, a very crucial one. Usually the coaches do not need to motivate the players for a game of this magnitude – playing against arguably the biggest team in the country is motivation in itself.
But if we continue to be sluggish in our performances, we are in for a tough evening against Stuart Baxter’s side, who are a wounded tiger following their elimination from the Caf Champions League.
It’s time for some improvement. It’s now or never. It’s sink or swim. You can do it, Abafana Bes’thende!
