Our beloved Orlando Pirates will be taking part in a new youth tournament next month called the Multichoice Diski Challenge, and it has been warmly received by the likes of our youth coach Augusto Palacios.
All 16 of the PSL’s U19 teams would take part in the tournament, with the eventual winners getting the opportunity to train in Holland as well as play two friendlies against German Bundesliga opposition.
“Me, I have been crying for this league. When you’re talking about players that are between 17 and 19, you already know whether they will make it or not,” he told the Siya crew.
“This tournament gives you, the media and the supporters, the chance to identify players and talent. In the tournament it will combine home life, school life and training, if you have all of this then you will be successful.”
I think this is a great initiative by the PSL and the teams participating. This will help bridge the gap in development. What do you think?
