One thing people seem to be underestimating about Mamelodi Sundowns’ good run of form is that it coincided with the arrival of Manqoba Mngqithi as the assistant coach.
When the former Golden Arrows coach arrived, a lot of people didn’t think he would be able to work with Pitso Mosimane, as both mentors are thought to have strong personalities. But since Mngqithi came in, Sundowns have improved drastically and the results are there for all to see. Assistant coaches are never really given the credit they deserve, especially in South African football, but hats should go off to Mngqithi who has gone about his business quietly.
Do you agree with these sentiments? Or do you think it’s just a welcome coincidence?
