Matlaba Is Worthy Of Europe

Our beloved Orlando Pirates may have stuttered to a 1-1 draw with the University Of Pretoria on Wednesday evening, but one thing that stood out in my mind was Thabo Matlaba’s performance.

The wide-sided player was all over the park on the night, dropping back, pushing forward and even working his way into the box.

In total, he made 92 passes during his time on the field, and 28 of those went forward, 41 were in the middle of the park, while 15 were played in the back third.

His pass rate percentage sits at an impressive 78% for the match, seeing him complete 59 out of the 75 he played.

These stats are almost at the level of that of a European based player, and with his excellent composure and speedy runs, I feel he could do well in Europe.
