Ever since Keisuke Honda arrived at our club in the January transfer window earlier this year, he hasn’t impressed me even once.
Seriously, what were our directors thinking when they offered him a contract? Yes, he was impressive at CSKA Moscow, but they play in the Russian League. My grandmother is blind in one eye, even she can pick a pass in Russia…
Honda is good at one thing- free-kicks. The ball literally needs to be standing still before he can make any effect on the game. In Italy, and by extension, Europe, you need to be able to break defences down with quick, accurate passing, intelligent play and penetrative movement off the ball. This is especially true when you’re an attacking midfielder.
At Milan, we still expect players of the highest order. Honda is certainly not the calibre of player that is worthy of wearing the Red and Black. Let’s do what we can to offload him
