After getting the axe from Safa, Gordon Igesund is a man free to choose his own destiny. With interest in his coaching services coming from near and far, Igesund seems spoilt for choice when it comes to his next job.
Rumours have connected him with the New Zealand national team job, as well as with clubs in Saudi Arabia, Morocco and right here in Mzansi.
In my opinion, Igesund would be best served at the moment to return to club football, whether in SA or abroad.
He built his reputation with clubs in South Africa, winning the PSL four times. After a frustrating spell at the helm for Bafana, Igesund should return to club coaching, where he will have more control over player development and can rebuild his confidence.
I would love to keep Igesund in the country, as he's left his mark on the face of club football in Mzansi.
