We often joke about the use of juju (or traditional muthi) by clubs to gain the upper hand over rivals but last night our Buccaneers were dealt with a heavy case of juju.
No it was not the juju that comes in a bottle or packet. It was the one that came in the form of an ex player who himself used to inflict the same kind of pain on other teams when he used to the wear the black and white of Pirates.
So often when footballers player against their former clubs they play with added spur with the intention of proving their worth to the club which decided they no longer needed their service.
Last night Thulasizwe Mbuyane was that player! He was the one responsible for sinking the Bucs ship in the 80th minute if the game.
The disappointing aspect in Pirates game was the fact we never looked like we wanted it more. There was no hunger in our players at all and Aces merely capitalised on our lacklustre performance.
Do you think the desire has left Pirates this season?
