Is there a need for ‘utility’ players in the South African game?
If one looks at players like John O’Shea and Antonio Valencia in Europe, both have the ability to play in almost every position.
O’shea played in every defensive position, every midfield position, he played up front as a striker and even played as a stand-in goalkeeper. Valencia, who was originally employed as a right winger, but now can play in a right back position and occasionally plays in the centre for his country.
Are there humble enough players in South Africa to play wherever they are asked to play?
