Exactly 13 years ago to the day South African football experienced its darkest hour when 43 supporters lost their lives on 11 April, Wednesday, 2001 during a PSL fixture between Soweto rivals Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates at Elis Park stadium, Johannesburg.
Kaizer Chiefs took a moment to grieve over the events which transpired that tragic evening.
Speaking to his clubs official website Chiefs Chairman Mr Kaizer Motaung said;
“The memories of that night will never be erased in our minds and our deepest heartfelt condolences will forever go to the bereaved families of the Ellis Park Disaster.”
