Wits have assembled what looks to be a very talented squad, and have made a very good start to the season as a result.
Gavin Hunt has a wide array of attacking talents to call upon with the likes of Erwin Isaacs, Robin Ngalande, Papy Faty, Ryan Chapman, Getaneh Kebede and Sibusiso Vilakazi.
He also has a powerful defensive backline with the experienced Moeneeb Joesphs calling the shots just behind them in goal.
Wits appear to have pace, power, defensive grit and players who can score some goals as well. It seems all the ingredients are there for the club to mount a title challenge in the 2013/14 season.
However, the Students still face a massive task as Kaizer Chiefs look in complete dominant form while Mamelodi Sundowns could be a giant that is slowly being awoken by Pitso Mosimane. Don’t forget as well that Orlando Pirates still have plenty of games in hand and they should also be in the mix come end of the season.
But Hunt knows how to win titles and this could be a valuable asset in the final reckoning. It begs the question then that despite the competition, can Wits be real title contenders?
Have your say...Are Wits genuine contenders for the title or do they still need further strengthening to close the gap on Downs, Chiefs and Bucs?
