Today, Manchester City announced that Edin Dzeko has signed a new deal keeping him at the club until 2018.
"I'm settled perfectly to life here, I know my teammates, the club and the team very well and I feel like I can improve even more,” Dzeko said about the new deal to our club’s Official website.
Dzeko’s words about how he’s settled have really resonated with me. Last season’s 16 goals that he scored are proof that he has started to adapt to the English game and is becoming the quality centre forward that we have been expecting ever since her arrived at our club in 2011.
After a disappointing start to his career at the club, Dzeko has grown into a fine player that always provides a great alternative option in attack. When you’re playing next to Sergio Aguero and David Silva, it’s really hard to look good, but Dzeko is able to provide a fantastic level of quality in the air, which our other forwards just can’t. His 2.8 aerial duels won per game, playing as a striker, are evidence of this.
The way he adds a whole new element to our team in attack will prove pivotal for years to come and I’m really looking forward to seeing how well the 28-year-old can improve in this next season, now that he’s finally a starter.
