Kaizer Chiefs interim coach Arthur Zwane has shared some advice with one of the long-serving players at the club on how to get their coaching career off the ground.

Zwane has no doubt that Chiefs veteran, Bernard Parker, will succeed in a coaching role in the near future.

With his contract expiring at the end of the season, Parker’s future remains uncertain at Chiefs, and Zwane has revealed that the player is planning to move into coaching.

"I talk to each and every player, and Bernard knows he won't play football forever. He has hinted that he wants to take up coaching, and I would advise him to apply for coaching courses. There are opportunities left, right and centre,” Zwane told the media.

"I told him that he can go to Ireland as well. That's where I got my coaching license, and he can also get help from SAFA, and I think CAF will now allow the coaches because the situation with Covid is getting better.”

Parker, who has endured a love-hate relationship with the Chiefs fans over the years, is weighing up his option for life after football. He obtained a higher certificate in marketing with a specialisation in sport from Boston City in 2021.

"We will try and help Bernard. If he wants to do coaching, we will most definitely help him. We need more people who are influential, people who can lead by example,” added Zwane.

"He's never been a troublesome player, he's always been disciplined. If he becomes a coach tomorrow, he will be a good leader."

The 36-year-old striker has been a mainstay in the Chiefs side for a decade, clinching several trophies, including two league titles, Nedbank Cup and MTN8. The former Bafana Bafana international has made over 360 appearances for the Soweto giants with 59 goals and 40 assists.
