Middendorp Comments On Amakhosi Selection, Stars Return?

Ernst Middendorp has given some insight on his plans to tackle SuperSport United this evening, speaking of their ‘core team’ at Kaizer Chiefs after two games.
The Glamour Boys are two for two in the Absa Premiership this season after beating Highlands Park 3-2 and Black Leopards 1-0, but will face their toughest task so far tonight as they face a Matsatsantsa that have just beaten both Orlando Pirates and Bidvest Wits 3-0.
Chiefs have the likes of Ramahlwe Mphahlele, Bruce Bvuma and Nkosingiphile Ngcobo injured for the encounter at FNB Stadium, however it is thought that both Khama Billiat and Itumeleng Khune could return to the squad after missing the first two matches.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Middendorp said, “We are creating a spirit of working together. The energy is good with everybody working towards one goal. You can see it when you observe for yourself that there is positive energy at our training session.
“Their form guide talks for them… More importantly, they beat tough opponents on the road. We have watched them play but it is still early days to draw any conclusions on any opposition.
“We will have minimum changes from the last match in the team, we have a core team now and working on a consistent formation and approach. I’m happy with the progress.”
Middendorp also admitted that the extended period between games – Chiefs haven’t played for two weeks – helped their preparations, saying, “When you get a space in between the matches, it gives you opportunity to work on certain elements of the game. Back-to-back games don’t allow much opportunity to sharpen your tactics. We had a good two weeks of managing training sessions.”
Chiefs and SuperSport lock horns at 18h00 this evening.
