Why A New Face Was On Chiefs’ Bench…
There was a new man at the helm of Kaizer Chiefs’ MultiChoice Diski Challenge this weekend as the in-form Amakhosi stuck seven goals past a hapless Bloemfontein Celtic.
Chiefs have endured a difficult start to this year’s MDC having picked up just three points from their opening four matches, however their fortunes changed this weekend in a 7-1 drubbing of Celtic at Princess Magogo Stadium in KwaMashu.
But it was Shaun Bartlett, and not Arthur ‘10111’ Zwane on the bench leading the young Glamour Boys at the weekend, with their usual head coach away on international duty with Bafana Bafana.
A statement on the club’s official website read, “Chiefs Reserves will be under the leadership of the stand-in first team assistant coach, Shaun Bartlett. Bartlett is holding the fort due to the call up to the National Duty of the reserves coach Arthur Zwane.”
Keletso Sifama, Yaseen Bunting and Rahim Milazi grabbed a brace each while Tshepo Mohlala got one in the demolition job, a win that moved them up to ninth place in the table.
Next up for Chiefs is – like their senior side – a clash with Polokwane City, with Zwane set to return to the bench on September 15 as they look to make it back-to-back wins.
