Using the German website, Transfermarkt.com, Soccer Laduma took a look through the players in Chiefs’ current squad to see which of them have the highest market value at this point, with one player far and away the most valuable player in their ranks right now.
At €1.9m, Khama Billiat is worth almost double the second most valuable player at Naturena right now (Itumeleng Khune, €1m), and is actually the player with the largest market value in the entirety of the Absa Premiership as things stand.
After Khune, there is Daniel Cardoso (€900k) and the departing George Maluleka (€800k), with the likes of Daniel Akpeyi, Leonardo Castro, Ramahlwe Mphahlele and Erick Mathoho varying between €750k and €650k to make up the rest of the top eight.
Maluleka will be joining Mamelodi Sundowns ahead of the 2020/21 season having already signed a pre-contract with the club, with Chiefs losing a player valued at over R15.7m for free as his contract comes to an end.
Should Amakhosi go on to clinch the league title this season and normal service is resumed, then players at the club could well see their stock rise even further once they add another league trophy to their cabinet.
Aside from monetary value, who do you think is Chiefs' most vital player?
