He’s played less than 120 minutes this season, hasn’t started a game since the opening day of Kaizer Chiefs’ campaign, so what now lies ahead for forgotten man, Lorenzo Gordinho?
The centre back was at one point seen as one of the brightest young defenders in the country after breaking into the first team under Stuart Baxter and becoming a regular in Steve Komphela’s early years, however he was then sent out on loan in a shock move to Bloemfontein Celtic.
After excelling in the Free State, the Glamour Boys tried to cut short the 25-year-old’s loan move, but since his return he has played just eight Absa Premiership games in the whole of 2019 to date.
It was recently reported by the Siya crew that Gordinho had been offered to both SuperSport United and Bidvest Wits as it became apparent that he may not have a future at Naturena going forward, and there are indications that he could be on his way out in January.
The biggest indicator of the defender’s future was in the games against Maritzburg United and Stellenbosch last month as young Njabulo Blom and then Siyabonga Ngezana were chosen ahead of him during Erick Mathoho’s suspension despite being several years his junior.

Given the fact that his contract expires at the end of the season, Chiefs may opt to try and get something for Gordinho now rather than potentially lose him for free in July, but the decision may well rest in Ernst Middendorp’s hands with regards to whether he sees a place for the defender or not.
Do you think Gordinho should move on in January?
