Moving from the GladAfrica Championship to play for a big team in the DStv Premiership comes with its challenges and Uthongathi FC coach Papi Zothwane has given Austin Dube advice on how to manage that transformation.
Dube made a huge move from the second division to one of Mzansi’s biggest clubs in Kaizer Chiefs, which on its own, comes with a lot of pressure.
Speaking to the media, Zothwane has urged the former Richards Bay FC defender to stay true to his football style and values because that is what attracted Amakhosi to him in the first place.
“Be yourself, they've trusted you and gave you a contract, that means that they saw something special in you, just adapt to their culture but don't change how you play,” Zothwane tells media.
"Be humble, be disciplined because some players when they move to big clubs they tend to change their behaviour and style of football to impress the new team - which invites challenges.”
Zothwane says if Dube stays true to himself, he will definitely succeed at Chiefs because they are in need of defenders.
"So stay true to your values, because 70% of players' performances is in their mindset, 30% comes from the coach and if he sticks to that he will definitely conquer at Chiefs.”
