AmaZulu chairman Sandile Zungu has slammed the agent of a player the club is set to lose to Kaizer Chiefs.
Sibusiso Mabiliso is understood to have been approached by the Glamour Boys to join them next season, but Zungu, who acquired the ownership of Usuthu in October last year, has told the Siya crew that the players’ representatives had informed him there was a potential move for the left back abroad.
“The agent of Mabiliso told us he wants to sell him overseas and that he won’t want to shop him around locally,” an irritated Zungu said.
“So, I am surprised to hear that (he could join Chiefs). I am telling you what the agent said. These agents operate in their own world. Maybe talk to him because he gave us an absolute assurance as AmaZulu that he will only leave the club when he goes overseas. In as much as they are free to do whatever they want with the player, I won’t play his game or sweep his rubbish. So, he must talk for himself. I talk for my players, I don’t talk for agents.”
It’s been brought to the Siya crew’s attention that Mabiliso’s representative is Miguel Paiva, but he could not be reached for comment.
Zungu also offered another twist to the saga when he revealed that AmaZulu had in fact tabled an offer for Mabiliso, whose contract expires next month.
The junior international has been in a position to join a club of his choice since January, and he has – up to now – rejected the Usuthu deal.
“No, but he’s not rejected it. He’s not signed it either,” said Zungu when pressed on whether the player has put pen to paper, adding that saying Mabiliso was “considering” the terms, would be the best way to put it.
