Wayde Lekay squandered a glorious opportunity to hand TS Galaxy a victory over Kaizer Chiefs when his penalty cannoned off the woodwork. The striker has now opened up on the experience and reveals how it has affected him.

The young forward failed to make it two goals in three games for Galaxy, much to the disappointment of the player himself and coach Dan Malesela, who felt Chiefs were let off the hook in their DStv encounter.
As the Rockets prepare for their next match against fellow PSL newcomers Swallows FC on Saturday, Lekay has revealed that he has put the disappointment behind him as his side plans to extend their unbeaten run against the Birds.
“Obviously in the game it is a disappointing moment, but many players miss penalties. It is something that happens in football, you just have to get back on the bandwagon and work as hard as you can,” Lekay said speaking to the media.
“It does take a knock to your confidence but if you allow it to get the better of you then you won’t succeed. I’m back in on training and I’m putting in the work and that is the important thing.
“Facing something like that against Chiefs that are a big team, I think it is a reality check, but you also have to gain confidence from that. You have to build, and it definitely will make you stronger,” Lekay said.

Meanwhile, the former Steenberg United striker has shared the advice he received from coach Malesela, who has instilled a great sense of confidence in Lekay and his Galaxy teammates this season.
“You have to know what you are worth and what you can do. It is something that coach (Dan Malesela) always reiterates and he always says the biggest challenge is fear. If we go in with fear, we won’t succeed,” Lekay said.
“For us to have those characteristics of confidence, I think we can take on any team. It is pointless that we come into a league and fear because it is 11 v 11 on the field so that is what we are here for, so that we can go out and win. So, confidence is key,” he added.
Galaxy will make the trip to the Dobsonville stadium this Saturday, with kick off scheduled for 20:15.
