There’s some good news coming out of the Kaizer Chiefs camp regarding two players who have recently been sidelined by injuries.
Last week, ahead of their DStv Premiership clash against Chippa United at FNB Stadium, coach Stuart Baxter told the media that Dumisani Zuma and Kgaogelo Sekgota were still on the mend and would not be available for that fixture.
While their recovery apparently still has some way to go, the Siya crew understands the duo have started with some ball work, although the trip to SuperSport United on Sunday comes too soon for them to make an appearance.
Zuma hasn’t played for Chiefs since May following surgery on his knee, with the club confirming around that time that the attacker would only return in September – and Baxter last week revealed that the player was now jogging.
Indications are that he’s taken this a step further and begun some ball work along with teammate Sekgota, who joined the club this season.
The former Swallows winger made his last appearance in Chiefs’ forgettable 4-1 thrashing by Royal AM for only 15 minutes.
Sekgota’s injury forced him to miss Amakhosi’s trip to Marumo Gallants, AmaZulu and the home match against Chippa at the weekend.
He will be itching to get back to fight for his place, and so will coach Baxter in order to have more attacking options.
But Siya sources have suggested the match at SSU could come too early.
