The Amakhosi Bust-Up During Nedbank Disaster
Kaizer Chiefs were on the end of a surprising defeat over the weekend in the Nedbank Cup, and there have been suggestions that tempers may have flared in the changing rooms.
The Glamour Boys were beaten 1-0 by National First Division side, TS Galaxy, on Saturday night as they became the first top-tier side to be beaten by a lower-league side in the final of the competition, and it brought to a close what has been one of the worst season’s in Amakhosi history.
According to Siya sources, there was a strong exchange of words in the changing room at half-time involving club stalwart, Bernard Parker, and new big-money signing, Khama Billiat, following a disagreement between the two during the break.
While the exact nature of the alleged argument remains unknown, it is important to point out that these sort of things do happen in high pressure situations in football, especially with regards to big teams when there is so much on the line.
There have been no indications that the alleged vocal confrontation went any further than the half-time break, though it could well be another hint about potential unrest at the club as they head into the off-season prior to the 2019/20 campaign.
It is thought that there could be plenty of personnel changes afoot at Naturena in the coming weeks as they look to bounce back from a thoroughly disappointing 2018/19 campaign, while the future of head coach, Ernst Middendorp, is also under scrutiny at this point in time.
The club was contacted for comment on the matter, however no response was received.
