It’s expected that a decision on Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp could be made today, the Siya crew has been informed.
The Glamour Boys missed out a massive chance to end the club’s five-year trophy drought at the weekend, their draw against Baroka FC handing rivals Mamelodi Sundowns the championship following their victory over Black Leopards.

According to insiders, the Chiefs management subsequently held a meeting with both coach Ernst Middendorp and the players yesterday for a debrief as well as planning their pre-season programme, while it is also understood that the team’s poor performance in the Premier Soccer League bio-bubble, which led to Amakhosi missing out on the title despite being top of the table for so long, was addressed.
The Siya crew is now being led to believe that Middendorp could very well be on his way out by this afternoon – with Gavin Hunt possibly announced as his replacement.
Stuart Baxter, who won two titles with Chiefs between 2012 and 215, has also had his name thrown into the hate, though he recently took up a job in India.
Indications are that there’s a board meeting at Naturena this afternoon for a decision to be made on the coach’s future and it is expected that he could be released early from his contract.

Hunt has been a hot favourite to land the Chiefs post having already agreed a settlement with Bidvest Wits and moving on from a club that has been sold to businessman Masala Mulaudzi, who has been granted permission by the PSL to relocate the team to Thohoyandou and rename it Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila.
The Siya crew will have further details later in the day…
