The Glamour Boys are currently top of the Absa Premiership with three wins from four games, and go into this weekend’s clash with Polokwane City during their best start to a league campaign in five years.
Middendorp has used 19 different players in their four games so far, while a total of 25 have made it into the 18-man squad for the matches that they’ve played.
A couple of players, such as young defender, Siyabonga Ngezana and new signing, James Kotei, are still waiting for their first appearance of the season, and have only made the squad once – both in the first game of the campaign against Highlands Park.
The likes of Siphelele Ntshangase, Kabelo Mahlasela, Philani Zulu and Joseph Molangoane are yet to feature in a single matchday squad over the course of the season so far despite not being injured, and it remains to be seen what it will take for them to get a look back into the coach’s plans.
Ntshangase, Mahlasela, Zulu and Molangoane played a combined 41 league games between them in 2018/19, but without a single minute to their name in 2019/20, they’ll be hoping for a change in fortunes in the near future.
Do you think any of the aforementioned players can break back into the side?
