Kaizer Chiefs are currently banned from signing and registering any new players for the upcoming two transfer windows, although the club is in the process of trying to get the ban overturned.
While Chiefs can only bolster their squad after January 2021, Amakhosi have still been linked with several players in South Africa.
The Siya crew reported yesterday that a Malawian website revealed that prior to the COVID-19 lockdown, Chiefs made enquiries in to the services of Chawanangwa Kaonga, who currently plies his trade for TS Sporting.
In addition, the Siya crew reported in last week’s edition of Soccer Laduma that Amakhosi are believed to be keeping a close eye on Maritzburg United’s Bongokuhle Hlongwane.
Siya sources indicated that Chiefs have been impressed with the 19-year-old, who is making waves in Maritzburg’s first team after being promoted from their academy a year ago.
Another player who has also made it on the radar of Amakhosi is Chippa United’s Thabo Rakhale, with Siya sources indicating in April that the club is monitoring the player’s situation closely.
As things stand, Chiefs will have to wait until after January next year before they are able to make new additions to their squad, however, should they be able to overturn the ban, Amakhosi would want to act quickly to strengthen certain departments of the team, especially after George Maluleka’s departure.
