Nine Shocking Chiefs Stats You Need To Know
Kaizer Chiefs may be heading into the Nedbank Cup final this weekend, but their Absa Premiership campaign in 2018/19 has been one to forget – and there’s some interesting stats behind it…
Check out nine fascinating stats about Chiefs in 2018/19 in the gallery above!
The Glamour Boys picked up their worst points haul since 1985 as they ended on just 39 points from their 30 league games, while their ninth-place finish was the lowest on the table they’ve been at the end of a campaign since back in 2006/07.
On top of that, the club’s goal difference of +4 is the lowest that it’s ever been since the modern era of South African football started in 1985, though only slightly worse than the 2008/09 and 2017/18 seasons when they ended on +5.
They’ve only scored less goals than this season (33) in two of their last 12 league campaigns, and only conceded more than this season (29) in three of them.
With the league campaign over and Chiefs having one last shot to redeem their season this weekend, Ernst Middendorp will be eager for his side to put on a show at Moses Mabhida Stadium and avoid what would be an embarrassing defeat against National First Division side, TS Galaxy, in their final chance at silverware for 2018/19.
