Champagne Pass Talk Invited Trouble For Stash At Chiefs

Siphelele ‘Stash’ Ntshangase has become increasingly under pressure at Kaizer Chiefs due to lack of game-time.

Ntshangase hasn’t played any match in coach Ernst Middendorp’s Absa Premiership title-chasing campaign with Amakhosi in the 2019/20 season, which has raised concerns about his future at the Soweto giants.

“I remember seeing him (Ntshangase) on television after he signed for Kaizer Chiefs and he was saying that people would see champagne passes from him. He put himself under so much pressure right there by saying that. Playing for Black Leopards and Baroka is not the same as playing for Chiefs.

"He is a good player, don’t hear me wrong, as he had also been called up to Bafana Bafana at one stage while playing in the NFD. But that was a huge statement to make about a champagne pass. Champagne pass talk invited trouble for the boy. He was even given the number 10 jersey because there were a lot of expectations. When you make such statements you must then double up your efforts,” ex-Chiefs midfielder Junior ‘Aghahowa’ Khanye weighed in.

“What I have observed about the boy is that he needs to work more on his work-rate. If I remember well, the boy was never developed properly and is relying on his natural talent. At that club (Chiefs), talent alone is not enough. I understand that sometimes we think about money, but I think at the time he joined Chiefs (in 2018) he was still good for Baroka. But I understand that he might have decided to join Chiefs because of his love for the club or something,” he adds.
