Tanzanian giants Simba SC saw their preparations derailed ahead of their CAF Champions League quarter-final match against Kaizer Chiefs.
Simba were set to take on cross-city rivals Young Africans in a highly-anticipated derby on Saturday, however, the match was called off.
According to Simba’s official website, the sudden postponement came as a result of a change in the start time of the match, which was originally scheduled to be at 11pm before being moved to one o'clock at night.
The postponement means that Simba, who were last in action on April 28 when they took on Dodoma Jiji in the Tanzanian Premier League, will have now gone 16 days without a competitive match.
Simba coach Didier Gomez has rued the missed opportunity for his side to play against Yanga in the derby, as they will now turn all their attention to their clash against Chiefs at Soccer City this Saturday.
"The players were ready for this game and the preparations were complete. We wanted to play today's match to increase the morale of the players, but it has failed so we are preparing for the next game,” the coach told Simba’s official website.
Chiefs meanwhile, will take on Swallows FC in a DStv Premiership on Wednesday as they look to leapfrog TS Galaxy into the eighth position, before shifting their focus to Simba three days later.
