Shaun Bartlett’s Kaizer Chiefs future could have an interesting addition in the coming 12 months after he played his role in helping them to the top of the table.
The South African legend signed a two-year deal with Chiefs a couple of years ago when he joined as an assistant at Naturena, and he has been seen to be very vocal on the sidelines this season as he works closely alongside head coach, Ernst Middendorp.
It was thought that the 47-year-old was due to see his contract with Amakhosi come to an end next season, however that does not actually appear to be the case, although it all depends on what the club want to do.
As reported in this week’s issue of Soccer Laduma, there is also thought to be an added option on top of the contract that was signed by Bartlett in 2018, meaning the club can extend until 2022 if they so wish – at any point between now and the end of next season.
Bartlett enjoyed plenty of success during his playing days, part of which was spent with the Glamour Boys, and he’ll be hoping that an Absa Premiership title win this season can help him in his bid to remain at the club for the foreseeable future.
