The Siya crew’s resident secret agent has made a compelling case why Kaizer Chiefs cannot afford to lose one of their soon to be out of contract stars.
Reeve Frosler is yet to open talks with the club over a new deal and if there’s no intervention in the coming months, the utility defender would then be in a position to discuss his future with another team and leave Amakhosi on a free in June.
“This would be a travesty for Chiefs – losing such a quality player if he does moves on.
A player of Frosler’s quality will not struggle to have suitors both locally and possibly overseas, I’m sure all options will be considered by him and his team, depending on his situation with Chiefs around game-time,” the agent explained.
Frosler has become a fringe player under coach Stuart Baxter when he was the first choice right back for Ernst Middendorp and Gavin Hunt before.
But the Englishman has made it clear that Njabulo Blom is his preferred choice, and so far he is sticking to his guns.
“Reeve is a player that offers versatility, good with both feet, good deliveries, excellent recovery and can play numerous positions, such as left back and central defensive midfield. He combined very well with (Samir) Nurkovic and (Leonardo) Castro, providing good assists with quality into the box. The discussion around who is better between him and Blom is not really one to go into, although they are both very good players,” the secret agent argues.
“Both are different players, Blom is not a natural right back, lacks defensively at times, as we saw when Royal AM came away with three points and scored four goals in the recent game. He is a player more suited in central midfield, where Chiefs struggle at times. Frosler has played there through his career, so more suited, but also offers a variety of positions.”
In the past, Frosler has been on the radar of European clubs as well as Nashville SC in the USA’s Major League Soccer.
“Chiefs won’t want to lose him, it will be interesting to see how it all pans out, but if we believe the reports then the power lays with the player, no doubt in that. I guess the suitors will be queuing up come January,” concluded the agent.
