Kaizer Chiefs’ Samir Nurkovic enjoyed a thrilling first season in Mzansi’s top flight and now he could walk away with a prestigious award this evening to top it all off.
Nurkovic, who scored 14 goals in all competitions in his first season for Chiefs, has been nominated for the Premier Soccer League Footballer of the Season award, coming up against Peter Shalulile, Themba Zwane and Gaston Sirino.
The awards ceremony will be held this evening and speaking ahead of the virtual event, the Serbian marksman explained exactly what it would mean to him if he walked away tonight with the prestigious accolade.
“As you already know, this is my first season in the PSL and I am really happy and looking forward to see more of that. I just want to take this opportunity to thank all who voted for me and nominated me for such a prestigious accolade. Thank you very much.
“The first thing I want to do was to call home, call my mother and say that I won such a good and prestigious award here in the PSL and I will be more than happy, I will be honoured and grateful and besides all the awards, it is going to be for all the Amakhosi fans out there,” Nurkovic told the media.
