Reports elsewhere on the continent have linked one of Kaizer Chiefs’ players with a move back to his home country at the end of the season.
It’s no secret that striker Lazarous Kambole is on his way out at Naturena with his contract expiring in June and no new deal on the table – in fact, the Zambian had been put on the transfer list by the club last year.
However, with no genuine bidders for his services to help Amakhosi recover the R3-million reportedly paid for him to join Chiefs in 2019, Kambole stayed put.
According to a report in his native country by Lukasatimes.com the player is expected to return to ZESCO United in the Zambian Premier League.
Chiefs signed Kambole when he was at the peak of his career and scoring goals regularly for both club and country.
But he never did find his scoring boots upon arrival in the Premier Soccer League, first under Ernst Middendorp, then Gavin Hunt as well as Stuart Baxter, who parted ways with the club last week and his place taken by Arthur Zwane in the interim.
The report suggested there were two unnamed Zambian teams keen on Kambole, and that interest from Sudan outfit Al Hilal was fading.
What is clear, however, is that Kambole is expected to leave Naturena at the end of the current 2021/22 campaign.
