Kaizer Chiefs are unlikely to bring in more players today, but the Siya crew has been informed that there is a proposed exit for one of the club’s fringe players.
It is understood that attacker Kabelo Mahlasela could be heading out of Naturena and back to his old club Bloemfontein Celtic on a loan deal.
But with only a few hours remaining before the transfer window closes at midnight, there is some doubt whether the two clubs can conclude their negotiations before then.
Mahlasela, 28, has not featured for Amakhosi at all so far this season and has not even made a single matchday squad in the four matches Chiefs have played.
He joined them in January last year from Celtic, but suffered a long-term injury shortly following his arrival while Steve Komphela was still the coach.
Mahlasela was tipped to make his breakthrough at the club a few months later and was said to have had an admirer in then new coach Giovanni Solinas, who was later sacked and replaced by Ernst Middendorp in December last year.
The player made 16 appearances in all domestic competitions during the previous season, though most of them were from the bench.
His Chiefs contract will expire in June next year, but it’s unclear whether he has an option to extend with the Glamour Boys – and a loan spell would suggest the club would possibly assess him at the end of the campaign.
