Three Kaizer Chiefs stars have been singled out to possibly benefit from the club’s impressive CAF Champions League campaign in turning their fortunes around this season.
In Angola on Tuesday, Chiefs qualified for the group stages of the Champions League after their 1-0 aggregate win over CD Primero de Agosto, courtesy of a Leonardo Castro goal after the first leg match at FNB Stadium on December 23 ended in a 0-0 draw.

Former Chiefs midfielder, Robert Nauseb, believes that the CAF campaign could benefit the likes of Khama Billiat, Castro and Nkosingiphile Ngcobo.
“Obviously, it’s a confidence booster for the players because Chiefs has never made it to the group stages of the Champions League. When you look at the team after the slow start they have had, it is also going to help the confidence of certain players. You must realise that players coming back from this pandemic are low in confidence and the more games they play the more they regain their confidence,” said Nauseb.

“It’s a very big achievement for the club and it’s big exposure for most of the young boys coming through like (Nkosingiphile) Ngcobo and the other boys. It’s going to put them way up on the map. Players like Khama Billiat and (Leonardo) Castro have been picking form and this competition is going to help them to improve. With Castro scoring there maybe it will be the turning point of his season,” he added.
