One of the three players recalled by Kaizer Chiefs from a recent loan agreement at Swallows FC could be left stranded this season.
The Glamour Boys have had to cut short what was meant to be another season-long stay for Ayanda Rorwana, Sizwe Twala and Itumeleng Shopane at the Dube Birds after it became clear they would struggle for game time.
Given Thibedi, who was also loaned out, has not been recalled and Swallows are understood to be in ongoing talks with Chiefs to sign him permanently.
The Siya crew reported earlier this week that Rorwana and Twala were closing in on moves, thought to be another loan deal, to Cape Town All Stars in the GladAfrica Championship before the transfer window closes on November 30.
But that leaves Shopane in limbo – Stars, his former team, have not expressed an interest in his services as things stand.
The fact that Chiefs are trying to send them out on loan yet again means they are not in coach Gavin Hunt’s plans as initially thought.
Should Shopane fail to get a club before the transfer deadline, it’s unlikely he will get game time at Chiefs, and with the age limit in the reserve league – the Multichoice Diski Challenge – the striker would be very much stranded.
Being a product of their youth development, Amakhosi would not want that scenario for the 23-year-old, but time is running out, at least for now.
The next transfer window opens on February 1 next year.
