Chiefs' Plans To Catch Downs

After being part of the team which made history for Kaizer Chiefs earlier this week, right back Kgotso Moleko has given his thoughts on how Amakhosi's disastrous start to the domestic season can take a turn for the better.

Chiefs made history this week by qualifying for the CAF Champions League group stages for the first time in their 51 years of existence. While things seems to be going well for Amakhosi on the continent, their performances on the domestic front see them languishing in the bottom four of the DSTV Premiership standings.

Moleko believes Chiefs can turn their season around if they win their next five matches, starting this weekend against Maritzburg United on Saturday, January 09. The Soweto giants are in 13th place on the standings going into this weekend’s clash. They are 14 points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.

“We’ve been working hard, but we were not able to win. I trust things will (now) go well as we prepare to take on Maritzburg United. We know how Maritzburg are a big side. We don’t treat them as a small side. I think it will be a good game and we know that we will be coming up against a coach who was here before. We are determined to do well in that game,” Moleko told the media.

“I believe in the game of football you need to focus on the next game you are going to play. The last game we played is in the past now and now we need to focus on the next game. I like how we played in Angola and I trust we are going to play that way going forward.

“It does not sit well with us, but as players we know. But looking at how things are now, we are not too far off. If we can fix things and we win our next five games, then I believe our season will change a lot. What we need to do as players is to score and keep it tight at the back. If we use our chances, then it can change any game we go into.”
