Did Kaizer Chiefs’ dressing room drama spill over onto the pitch during their 1-1 draw at home against Swallows on Wednesday night?
Well, given the video that has been trending over the last few hours on social media it appears so – with captain Bernard Parker appearing to have a go at teammate Samir Nurkovic over who should take the last kick of the game.
Both sides were level in referee’s optional time when Chiefs got a free-kick just outside the opposition penalty box and Parker, being the leader of the team, stood over the ball to presumably take the set-piece.
Nurkovic, who’d come on as a substitute in the second half, seemed to disagree and wanted the free-kick to be his responsibility instead.
It’s then that Parker appeared to put his foot down. Although there is no audio in the clip, the Chiefs veteran seems to be telling the Serbian that he should “listen to me”, before hurling expletives once the striker finally walks away.
Parker did not make the last-ditch opportunity count with Amakhosi yet again failing to amass maximum points in their fight to break into the Top 8 of the DStv Premiership campaign with now only three games remaining.
It’s been the story of Chiefs’ season – lacklustre results, a lack of fight and the general poor body language from both players and technical staff.
Was Parker’s rant a mirror of what has been going on behind the scenes?
