After his coach suggested Samir Nurkovic needed protection from match officials, the player himself has admitted he feels targeted.
Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp last week called on referees to shield the Serbian forward from harsh tackles from their Premier Soccer League rivals.

Middendorp earned a yellow card on the sidelines of Amakhosi’s 1-1 draw away to Black Leopards last weekend as he took a swipe at referee Luxolo Badi for apparently being lenient following a rough challenge on Nurkovic.
“I have been feeling like I am being targeted since the beginning of the season. But it’s a normal thing – they are defending their goals, and I am trying to score,” he said.
“Every game is different and every player reacts differently, but we will see as the season continues.”
Nurkovic picked up the Goal of the Month for December – the accolade voted for by fans after they picked the first of his three goals against Bloemfontein Celtic in a thrilling game that Amakhosi won 5-3 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
“I thought I would win this award earlier for my first goal for the club (against SuperSport United in August), but I am still happy that it is for a goal I scored in my very first hat-trick for Kaizer Chiefs,” Nurkovic, who has 10 league goals and targeting the Golden Boot at the end of the campaign, explained.
