A former Kaizer Chiefs player insists Njabulo Ngcobo is better off in defence and should not be played in midfield.
Ngcobo played as a central midfielder for Bafana Bafana in the FIFA World Cup qualifier against Ethiopia and was recently played in that position by Amakhosi coach Stuart Baxter in the DStv Premiership clash against AmaZulu.
Despite being comfortable on the ball, former Amakhosi midfielder Ntokozo Sikhakhane feels the Soweto giants will see the best of Ngcobo if he is played at the heart of defence, where he shined last season in the colours of Swallows FC.
"You know what? I feel he should be played in central defence. That's his best position and that's where we saw him performing well last season for Swallows. You can see now he gets the ball (in midfield), but he does not use it. I don't see him as a midfielder, he should play as a defender," Sikhakhane tells the Siya crew.
"When he plays in midfield, he passes sideways or backwards. There was a time Chiefs played him as a midfielder against AmaZulu and he did that. So, I feel he is better playing at the back."
Chiefs will be back in action this weekend in the DStv Premiership against Chippa United and will face off against former Amakhosi mentor Gavin Hunt.
