The Siya crew, having been informed that one of the Kaizer Chiefs players is anxious over his future at the club, approached his agent for comment.
According to insiders at Naturena, the fate of midfielder Kearyn Baccus at the club remains unclear, given he is yet to make an official appearance under coach Stuart Baxter so far this season – and his contract expires in June.
Baccus joined the Glamour Boys in 2019 during Ernst Middendorp’s tenure and immediately excelled in his first season, so much so, that Molefi Ntseki, the Bafana Bafana coach at the time, admitted to having him on his radar.
A lot has changed since then, with Baccus unable to break into the Chiefs line-up when Gavin Hunt was still in charge, and now Baxter.
Indications are that the player’s camp, as reported in the latest edition of Soccer Laduma, could be looking for a meeting with the club to assess where to from here as Baccus will be in a position to sign a pre-contract elsewhere in January.
The Siya crew reached out to his agent, Mike Makaab of ProSport International to enquire on the latest regarding Baccus.
“I can’t comment. It’s too early to talk about the player’s future,” was all the veteran player representative would say on the matter.
It now remains to be seen whether the lack of game-time improves going forward, as Chiefs resume their DStv Premiership programme on Saturday with a home game against struggling Chippa United, now coached by Hunt.
