Motaung Outlines Ntseki’s Role At Chiefs

Amakhosi supremo, Kaizer Motaung, has outlined the role of the club’s newest appointment announced on Monday afternoon.

Kaizer Chiefs confirmed the arrival of former Bafana Bafana coach Molefi Ntseki at Naturena as the head of technical and the youth academy having agreed to a three-year contract with an option to have it extended for two more seasons.

The Siya crew has it on good authority also that Ntseki would be Stuart Baxter’s first team assistant should the Englishman put pen to paper and become Chiefs’ replacement for Gavin Hunt, who was sacked last Friday.

“He’s got a bigger responsibility because he is here to be head of technical and that includes the first team and all the football structures,” Motaung said of Ntseki’s role.

“The reason we appointed him is because of his extensive experience, he’s gone through the mill from school soccer, from amateur football, from the youth and right up to national football. And because of his knowledge and experience, we felt that there was a need for us to bring somebody of his stature to be able to preserve our culture and our philosophy of football.”

He said Ntseki would help give the team identity.

“You can see with the team that is playing now we have lost something in the team that is very critical, and this comes as a result of bringing in (different) coaches from time to time and allowing them to change and do things differently from the Chiefs way,” Motaung explained.

“Hopefully with his appointment he is going to be the custodian of that important element in our club, to ensure that he embraces the culture and also the philosophy of how the teams play – there has to be uniformity, whether it’s the junior or senior teams. Everything should be in sync. We engaged him before he went to Bafana Bafana, so this process was interrupted by that. But that was the right step for his own career.”

Motaung added Ntseki will also be tasked with heading the scouting department as well as the recruitment of players and coaches.
