Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp appeared to plead for patience in his post-match press conference against Black Leopards at the weekend.
Amakhosi were 1-0 winners over Lidoda Duvha at the Moses Mabhida Stadium and the coach was asked if he anticipated goal-scoring to be an issue this season.

Middendorp replied: “We put a lot of effort into our defensive work, strategising to make it better, even in the second half against Highlands Park I think we could have scored two or three goals more. And of course you would have loved to see.”
The German-born mentor then proceeded to suggest that strikers Lazarous Kambole and Samir Nurkovic, the club’s recently acquired forwards, were a work in progress.
“We have to be realistic and facing facts is usually very difficult for most people. But if you bring in a lot of new player in key positions, core positions, having to corporate – we should be happy (with progress). In key positions we are creating chances and that is part of bringing a team together. At the moment we can keep working on it because we have the three points,” Middendorp told the media.
Chiefs have a bit of time to keep working before their next match, which is at home against SuperSport United on August 24.
