Kaizer Chiefs head coach Ernst Middendorp has revealed the secret to his side's impressive start to the Absa Premiership season.
The AmaKhosi opened up a five-point lead at the top pf the Absa Premiership with a 2-0 triumph over Mamelodi Sundowns on Sunday afternoon.
Chiefs were without Itumeleng Khune, Kearyn Buccas and Bernard Parker but Middendorp reveals the depth in the squad has been vital to the side this season.
"It's something that we have to definitely mention it, Itu Khune the best goalkeepers in South Africa or in the continent, comparing with Denis Onyango and others guys, he's injured, now you see a player like Daniel Akpeyi coming in, Reeve [Frosler] I was aware that he was not going to be able to do the job over 90 minutes," Middendorp told SuperSport after the game.
"A young guy like Njabulo Blom is coming in it's important that we have the 19, position 20, guys like Kabelo [Mahlasela], Siphelele [Ntshangase], they are all part of the team. With such a season, everyone is needed. This is actually our secret at the moment.
"I said it before, it's three points but on the other side, the club, the brand, the reputation, building up a winning mentality. There are the so-called ten habits of confidence, players' confidence, I think we have a lot stuff showing today, take action, be confident, do the game with purpose. I think we're on the right track if everybody stays on the ground, and not starting to fly, whatever. We have next big game against Pirates, we will prepare ourselves," he said.
