Three of Kaizer Chiefs' signings started on Saturday afternoon, as the Soweto giants suffered defeat to Township Rollers in a pre-season friendly.
Ernst Middendorp opted to start Kearyn Baccus, Lazarous Kambole and Samir Nurkovic while James Kotei started on the bench,
While all eyes were on the new signings, it was one of the veterans of the squad who broke the deadlock for Chiefs, with Bernard Parker finding the back of the net.
The hosts weren't behind for too long as a mix-up in the defence allowed Kaone Vanderwesthuizen to fire past Bvuma from close range and level matters for Rollers.
Chiefs nearly went in to the break behind when Tumisang Orebonye weaved his way into the area before picking out Segolame Boy, who failed to capatilse from close range.
The Soweo giants rang the changes in the second half as Siphelele Ntshangase, Dumisani Zuma, Willard Katsande, Lorenzo Gordinho and Leonardo Castro were introduced.
Despite the flurry of changes, it was Rollers who got the next goal as Sikele turned provider to pick out Orebonye, who fired home close range with just under 30 minutes to play.
Unfortunately for the South African outfit, they were unable to find a way back in to the contest as Rollers held on for a 2-1 victory.
Middendorp and his troops will now shift their focus to next weekend's Carling Black Label Cup clash against Orlando Pirates.
Here's how they started:
Chiefs: Bvuma, Zulu, Ngezana, Mathoho, Frosler, Maluleka, Manyama, Baccus, Kambole, Parker, Nurkovič.
