What Chiefs Could Demand For Nurkovic

Kaizer Chiefs may not be open to parting ways with one of their key assets, but the price tag being thrown around for Samir Nurkovic may convince them otherwise.

The Siya crew reported earlier this month that the Serbian striker, who finished as the Amakhosi golden boot winner in his maiden season, has had his head turned by constant interest from North Africa and the Gulf region.

Egyptian giants Al Ahly are keen on his services, while he has also been the subject of interest from a few Saudi Arabian clubs.

Chiefs, hit with a two-window transfer ban by FIFA, are desperate to hold on to their key players and had issued a strongly worded statement that there was no offer yet for Nurkovic, who is still recovering from injury.

Indications are that Amakhosi would be open to talks if the interested suitors table an offer in the region of R30-million.

Amakhosi, in fact, had already been preparing for life without Nurkovic following their informal approach to SuperSport United for their top scorer – Bradley Grobler.

However, with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) dismissing their appeal to have the ban overturned, there was no way of doing the deal.

This doesn’t stop them from selling Nurkovic, though, especially if the offer is a lucrative one and can set them up to splash on an adequate replacement next season.

Expect interest in the player to remain until the Premier Soccer League transfer window is slammed shut on November 30 and the Egyptian one on December 6. The window in Saudi Arabia, however, has closed and will re-open in January.
