Maritzburg United could end their pursuit to try to lure a Kaizer Chiefs striker to KZN for the upcoming season.
The Team of Choice confirmed to the Siya crew that they are interested in bringing back Amakhosi striker Keletso Sifama after he spent the second half of last season on loan from the Soweto giants.
The 18-year-old Sifama returned to Naturena when his loan spell with Maritzburg came to an end last season and there is no guarantee of him getting regular game time in the coming campaign under head coach Stuart Baxter. The youngster made five appearances for the Team of Choice last season under coach Ernst Middendorp.
Maritzburg’s football and operations manager, Quintin Jettoo, told the Siya crew that Sifama could stay at Naturena in the coming campaign.
“We don’t have any feedback at this point (from Chiefs). At this point, we are not expecting any feedback and we think that he will stay with Chiefs,” Jetto said.
Amakhosi are expected to make a decision on Itumeleng Shopane, who was with the reserve team last season and is said to have recovered from an injury recently.
