When it comes to midfielders, Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane is spoilt for choice in the upcoming season and one of the club’s new midfielders has revealed what will likely give him an advantage.
The Soweto giants have bolstered their squad with several new faces in Ashley Du Preez, Yusuf Maart, Siyethemba Sithebe, Zitha Kwinika Kamohelo Matlatsi, and Dillan Solomons.
Maart, who penned a three-year deal with a two-year option from Sekhukhune United, will have to adapt quickly at a high-pressure club like Chiefs and fight for a starting berth with the likes of Phathutshedzo Nange, Cole Alexander, newly-signed stars in Siyethemba Sithebe and George Matlou.
The 27-year-old has the ability to defend and attack in the middle of the park and his ex-factor is the fact that he is comfortable on the ball and can play as a number six, eight, or 10, stating that it doesn’t matter where Zwane deploys him in midfield.
Maart is also a good passer of the ball with a good range, leadership qualities, and vision, which makes him an ideal candidate for the attacking and ball-playing style of football Zwane wants to play, which the coach suggests represents the culture of the club.
The Bafana Bafana international is in line to make his Chiefs debut when they tackle Royal AM in their DStv Premiership opening clash against Royal AM at Chatsworth Stadium on Saturday.
