Ernst Middendorp revealed that after a few of his players were suffering from cramps on Wednesday evening, there was only one serious concern after the game.
Kaizer Chiefs played to a 1-1 draw against Bidvest Wits during midweek Absa Premiership action, with the result seeing them remain four points clear of second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns.
As it was Amakhosi’s first game back since the restart, a few players were suffering from cramps, with the likes of Leonardo Castro, Yagan Sasman and Kgosto Moleko all needing to come off at some stage in the encounter.
However, Middendorp is confident that it was nothing more than just cramps, though Castro could have been more of a concern.
“What is a bit more serious can be Leonardo Castro, he is a little bit more but we are very close to (getting) him right for Saturday, the other is Yagan (Sasman) it is a normal situation that you are cramping a little bit, it is not a hamstring, rupture or injury. It is just cramping with a 90 minute competitive game on a field, let’s be honest, the field in the moment all over are probably not such a carpet which you asked for,” he told the media after the game.
“I think the majority of players who had to be taken off will be available for Saturday, but it doesn’t mean we have to play with the same players, there are other players with the same quality that can start the game.”
Chiefs will lock horns with Polokwane City at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
